A sax-laden bill this month but with a huge variety of styles, from the lyrical Ornette -inflected alto playing of Martin Speake , here in duo with the tenor sax of Alyson Cawley , to the two-man sax quartet! of Nathaniel Catchpole , soprano and tenor, and b, baritone and alto. The night is completed by a great trio from way out west with the welcome return of Kay Grant ‘s vocals, Tim Hill ‘s baritone sax, and newcomer Richard Hughes on accordion. As usual music is from 8.30 and it’s £10/8 cash on the door. Big thanks to Ivor Kallin for running things last month. This is the last one of the year with the December date falling between Christmas and New Year, so the next flimflam is in January 2024.
